Gerald Werner serves as global director for information security for K2 Intelligence. A veteran IT executive with experience implementing and managing global information security programs, Gerald maintains the integrity and security of the firm’s information systems, ensures compliance to regulatory and legal requirements, creates security policies, drives end-user security awareness, and conducts internal audits.
At K2 Intelligence, Gerald focuses primarily on the development of strategic and tactical solutions to complex security problems for K2 intelligence. As needed, he serves as an advisor to firm practitioners working to solve specific information security challenges for clients. He leads a team of professionals who operate all parts of the firm’s information security program, the protection of internal and client data, risk assessments, system architecture reviews, vulnerability analysis, and strategic planning.
Gerald’s experience assisting organizations with information security issues includes work at the National Football League (NFL), where he was chief information security architect responsible for ensuring the league’s compliance with payment card industry standards (PCI-DSS) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), access management, privilege management, system integrity, and incident response; ICAP, where he performed risk assessments, oversaw security incident management and response, and conducted vulnerability and penetration tests and malware analysis; and Pepsi Cola International, where he managed a team of security experts and implemented information security solutions in 50+ countries.
Gerald received a B.A. in applied information technology from Thomas Edison State University and holds certifications for Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
