On an episode of the podcast Employment Law Now (“Applicant Salary Inquiries, DOL / SCOTUS Nominees and Cybersecurity Concerns—Featuring FBI Special Agent Austin Berglas,” 16 Feb. 2017), Austin Berglas discusses current trends in cybersecurity and data breaches that employers should be watching.
According to Austin, “What we’re seeing every single day is companies, no matter how small they are—everything from community banks to small, one-, two-, three-person hedge funds and startup companies—being targeted for a whole host of things, everything from source code and intellectual property to personally identifiable information to credit card data, that can be easily monetized.” He emphasizes, “Criminals today . . . cast a wide net.”
